Wisdom Teeth Removal in DFW

Wisdom teeth, referred to as your third molars, often cause issues when they start to emerge during the late teen years. For many young adults, there simply isn’t enough room for these teeth to come in properly. This can lead to oral pain, gum swelling, teeth crowding, and even infection.

At Alliance Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, our board-certified oral surgeons have years of experience safely removing wisdom teeth in a comfortable and supportive setting.

Why Remove Wisdom Teeth

When wisdom teeth become impacted or have partially erupted, they can push against other teeth. This can damage the alignment of your bite or trap bacteria that cause gum disease. Removing them early often prevents more serious dental issues in the future.

What to Expect During Oral Surgery

Your procedure is done under anesthesia for your comfort. Most extractions take less than an hour, and you’ll receive detailed aftercare instructions for a smooth recovery.

Recovery & Care Tips

Mild swelling, soreness, and bruising are normal for the first few days after removing your wisdom teeth. Following our aftercare instructions, eating soft foods, and keeping the surgical site clean help speed healing.

FAQs

Does everyone have to have wisdom teeth extraction surgery?

Not always. If they are healthy, aligned, and easy to clean, removal may not be necessary. An X-ray will determine how your wisdom teeth are aligned and help to determine whether or not yours need to be removed.

Typically, patients between the ages of 16 and 20 explore wisdom teeth removal, before the roots fully develop.

Most wisdom teeth extraction patients return to school or work in three to four days, but it takes about a week to totally recover. You’ll receive complete aftercare instructions to ensure you have the smoothest recovery.

If your wisdom teeth are impacted, we do IV sedation to ensure your comfort. If the wisdom teeth are erupted into the mouth then there may be other options available. Talk to our dental team about what will work best for your procedure.
